2 weeks ago I spent several hours typing a blog post. I typed one handed while I held and nursed Grace and tried to keep my train of thought while kids came in and out. I went through the basics of the past couple of months and current basic schedule. I was so excited to make a new run at blogging regularly. I was worried that all my hard work would be for naught if Hallie accidentally shut down my computer or if some other computer fiasco occurred so I clicked save every few minutes to save my precious work. I wanted to add a few pictures to my post but needed to upload them and since I had run out of steam I saved the post one last time and went to bed. I was so discouraged to find that the entire post was missing when I went back to finish it. All that time and effort wasted and since my memory isn't functioning well in my sleep deprived state it literally is gone. I can't even remember what I wrote about....:(
I posted pictures of a few of the events of the next week to keep some momentum going and figured I could go back letter and fill in the text. I still don't really know what I'm doing or how I want to structure things, I just know I'd like to keep better records of the comings and goings of our life so struggling through the learning process with less than perfect results is better than nothing.
Trying to think and type and remember while attempting to keep a baby happy is
This week seemed pretty full.
President's day was a busy day. Adam had a dance practice in the morning and then spent the rest of the afternoon at work. Lindsey and Lauryn scheduled a group date with their best friends. Katrina and Skyler were still in town for the big event.
4 couples+bowling+ice cream=a super fun and perfect first group date without parents.
Hallie was really sick Monday and had a dr. appt already scheduled to clear her for the surgery on March 2 to remove the growths on her eye. I decided to take her in anyway to make sure her lungs were clear since she had a fever and sounded awful. Dr. Clark couldn't clear her for surgery because she was ill but he checked her over. Her lungs were clear but she had fluid in her ear that we kept an eye on for infection.
Tuesday Damien came over after Seminary to spend time with Katrina before her flight then they all went up to the airport to drop her off around noon. I've learned once again that I have a hard time getting much done when we have company. We managed to get through our Tuesday night schedule of voice lessons and basketball practice but everyone was tired. Hallie's ear started hurting in the afternoon so I put basil and melaleuca oil on a cotton ball on her ear and on guard and breathe on her feet and in the diffuser. She fell asleep and we put it on again when she woke up and gave her some tylenol for the pain. Well actually we spent hours trying to convince her to take the tylenol but she refused. Adam had somehow gotten her to take a dose on Saturday night for her fever so we asked him to come try again and his magic worked. She took the tylenol, slept all night and never complained about her ear hurting again. I'm so grateful to have more dr mommy options for my kids now instead of having to rely on antibiotics.
Wednesday Adam went to his Quest class in the morning. He's decided to drop his afternoon class in favor of more study time. Lindsey and Lauryn worked from 1-6pm as usual. They were excited that they can now listen to Pandora at work-it's the little things. :)
Sam and James went to scouts. We don't always remember scouts these days so it is always a mini victory when we do. It's so nice to have them both going now that James is 8. James struggled a bit not having something to do while Sam was gone.
Thursday the twins had a quiet day at home working on school work and taking it easy. Stuart took Samuel, James and Hallie to the OMSI to see the new exhibit for a couple of hours in the morning. One of the perks of him working from home is the occasional outing with the kids. I won't mention the negatives. :) In the evening Adam went to dance practice and Stuart, Lindsey and Lauryn went to the temple for a ward youth temple trip in the evening.
Friday was Physics and Biology at 9 for Adam and the twins. I had my 8 week checkup with the OB. I think it's interesting that they have changed from the 6 week checkup after having a baby to the 3 and 8 week check up. I think it is a better system but I'm not used to it. Everything is good now just to get some more sleep and make time to exercise...
Stuart took the kids to their basketball games. Hallie wasn't up to going out yet so I was home with her for the evening. Adam was at work then went to Canby for a high school bball game with Sami. The twins won their first game and were very excited! Lindsey made 4 baskets. They are getting better. Hard to believe they just started playing last year. Sam and James lost their game but had a fun time.
HGC hosted a youth conference from 9-9pm on Saturday so Lindsey and Lauryn were up bright and early doing their Saturday jobs so they could go. Stuart drove them out to Beaverton. Adam worked most of the day.
The rest of the crew tinkered around the house doing jobs and cleaning. We went for a walk in the beautiful sunshine around 4 then to Costco for a few groceries and gas.
Hallie was complaining of being in pain all evening. I thought she might have a UTI. I sent Adam to the store for Cranberry juice and pumped her full before she went to bed. She woke up today feeling fine so maybe she was just constipated. Her little body has had a rough week,
Sam woke up with a sore throat, cough and congestion so I was home again this week. The past month has been one sickness after another. I've only managed to make it to church once since Grace was born. Sam and I worked on some church things and some family history projects while Hallie was napping and everyone else was at church.
Adam, Lindsey and Lauryn had an Encore performance this morning at the Lake Oswego ward, then a meeting at the church and choir practice. Busy morning.
After church was another choir practice. Adam had stake young men's council meeting. We managed to squeeze in a family dinner before the older kids headed off to Encore. Phew!
And that's a wrap.
